Ulterra’s Leduc Manufacturing Facility has Reached the Four-Year Mark with no Recordables!

23 April 2019

Ulterra’s Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) team works hard to ensure a safe workplace for all employees. This is all made possible by managing business operations through an HSSE Management System that is consistently improving, as well as the “safety first” mindset that has been widely adopted by the Ulterra team. This year, Ulterra’s Leduc Manufacturing Facility reached four years with no recordable incidents.

Ulterra Canada Leads with a 0.0 TRIR

According to Alberta Labor, the lost time claim rate has increased by 3.8% and modified work claims are up by 8.1%. Another key metric to look at for safety performance is the Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR). TRIR reflects the number of recordable incidents and work hours over a year. The lower the TRIR, the better a company’s safety program and performance appear. Although TRIR is not tracked by Alberta Labor, Ulterra Leduc Manufacturing is proud to have a  0.0 TRIR.

Two New Risk Factors, Same TRIR

Ulterra’s fourth year with a 0.0 TRIR is even more impressive than the last three, considering two new risk factors were introduced:

  1. Canadian Manufacturing Expansion
Ulterra has been in the process of opening the first-ever matrix facility of their kind in Canada, leading to non-routine tasks, and new surroundings and machinery.
  2. Ulterra Family Growth
With Ulterra’s expansion in Canada, new employees are challenged with adapting to Ulterra’s fast-paced environment and culture.

Typically, these are two factors that increase risk but serve as no match at the Leduc Manufacturing facility.

Way to go, Leduc Manufacturing!
